Two Hull Diptych - 1998

Two Hull Diptych - 1998

In this return to my perennial subject, with a vertical diptych, a long progression is covered from a humble beginning when I drew the hull being repaired against the quay at Newlyn.

This instance demonstrates the amount of probing continuously necessary if one is to extend  beyond one's previous work; the artist needs to remain still whilst driving forwards.

This painting is owned by Rupert Lewin, my main patron, who due to his convictions about art and his knowledge of finance, has been able to buy my best paintings for twenty years.
