Subjects can spring unannounced on the canvas; never must any element be lost that might burn in to a fresh existence from the unconscious, as creativity taking a skeleton form.

So it was with this intimate little painting which places under public gaze an aspect of the private actions of which most of us partake which breathes the life of flesh in to existence.

One is a fully-fledged artist to the extent one is able to remain unguarded in placing on a canvas the vulnerabilities one feels. Otherwise one is merely a topographer with a scene to paint.

I also work from a model whenever an opportunity occurs; the reflex reaction of drawing directly from the subject contains a spontaneity not readily discovered anywhere else.
