The hour of the eclipse caused a pronounced shiver, when the appreciation of our supposed safety and warmth in a safe position of the solar system was for one moment undetermined.

Painted immediately after this interruption to accustomed thought and the regular patterns of daylight, this canvas depicts a sense of twilight passing in to dark and back to twilight.

Whilst the sun's path fleetingly made the state of moon-shadow in our norm, the emotions of humans, Noah's ark-like, identified with the animals; we could thereby live more fully.

The variation of tone and the hue in the thirty rectangles were chosen to record that little slice of time, one month when they coincided subjectively with my state of mind each day.
