At Moorings - 2004

This is one part of a triptych depicting three closely related hulls tugging at their moorings, each wrestling with the force of wind and tide that makes their perennial environment so restless.

It is surprising how fleeting is the moment of conception of what might become a large elaborate painting taking many month to complete.

When driving by in a car for example, one might easily spy in a single glance the essence of a subject such as this in great detail, as well as in broader context of day and place.

One learns the surge of energy that characterises this process and , from past experience, how not to allow those important fledglings to fly off but, also, how not to pamper them excessively.
