Alsia - 1992

Alsia is the unusual name of the valley where we had come to live. Sheltered and fertile, the farm had always prospered because of its corn mill and perhaps the holy well gracing it.

Its farmhouse , with small barns and workshops built in apparently haphazard juxtaposition, are united with an intensity descending on them having been built over so many centuries.

The atmosphere pervading the small hamlet is the result of ceaseless activity of farmhands who for generations were involved with keeping up the buildings through agricultural toil.

This necessary care coincides with the conscience of any artist who needs to be as deeply involved with the intangible talent of nurturing and harvesting his own unpredictable crop.
